Self-Employed Insurance

Exciting News for Self-Employed Insurance Plans!

It’s time for another edition of Tidbit Tuesdays, and I’ve got some exciting updates to share about health insurance plans for the self-employed.

A few weeks ago, I talked about new insurance options for self-employed individuals and 1099 workers. Well, things just got even better! Some of these plans have been revamped!

First off, they’ve introduced new deductible options, giving you the choice between a $500 or $750 deductible. But the really exciting part?

They’ve restructured the pricing using what we call “age-banded rates.” Previously, everyone paid a flat rate of $479, regardless of age. While $479 is a fantastic price if you’re in your mid-50s to 65, it’s a bit steep if you’re in your 30s. With the new age-banded rates, younger people now have access to more affordable plans tailored to their age group.

And let’s not forget, these are PPO plans—nationwide PPO plans through the PHCS network. You’ll save more by staying in-network, but you still have coverage out-of-network too. The only limitation is that these plans don’t cover specialty medications. By specialty meds, I mean those designer drugs you often see advertised on TV. There is still coverage for regular medications, but for specialty ones, you’ll need other options.

Eligibility is simple: answer “no” to 10 health questions, and you’re in.

Pre-existing conditions? Not a problem.

It’s truly a great deal for self-employed and 1099 individuals looking for comprehensive coverage.

I’m excited about these changes, and I hope you are too!
