How Nature Supports Your Health (and Why It’s Easier Than You Think)
Nature and Wellness: The Simple Practice That Makes a Big Impact
If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve been diving into different aspects of wellness—everything from supplements to sleep. Today, we’re exploring one of the simplest and most powerful health practices you can do: spending time in nature.
You may have noticed I film many of my videos outside. People often ask me why, and it turns out there’s a really good reason for it—nature is healing. In fact, I was recently reading an article in Reader’s Digest called “How Nature Heals Us,” and it confirmed everything I’ve experienced personally.
Why Nature is So Good for You
Spending time outdoors—really being in nature—can lower stress, reduce anxiety, and improve your sleep. And we’re not just talking about standing outside scrolling your phone. To get the full benefit, you need to unplug and immerse yourself in your surroundings.
Nature helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which is your body’s internal clock. Getting outside in the morning light for even 15–20 minutes can help reset your sleep cycle, boost your mood, and increase your energy.
And the beauty of nature’s healing power? It doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to hike a mountain or go on a big camping trip. Even a few simple, intentional moments can make a difference.
Simple Ways to Get More Nature in Your Day
- Grounding: Walk barefoot in the grass. This helps you connect physically and mentally to the earth—yes, it’s a real thing!
- Sit outside during lunch: If you’re busy and can’t go for a walk, just take your meal outdoors. A little sunlight and fresh air can go a long way.
- Leave the phone behind: Whether you’re walking, sitting on the porch, or watching birds, let yourself be fully present.
- Touch the trees, listen to the birds, feel the breeze: Nature engages all your senses—and that’s exactly the point.
- Evening walks: Light walks after dinner not only help you unwind but can also aid digestion.
And let’s be real—sometimes the weather isn’t ideal. But even when it’s windy or cool, a short walk outside can still offer mental clarity and a sense of calm.
Wellness Isn’t One Size Fits All
Here’s the most important reminder: you don’t have to follow a strict routine to be healthy. True wellness is a mix of habits that support your unique lifestyle. Whether it’s essential oils, good sleep, healthy food, or time in nature—it all adds up.
Being healthy doesn’t mean you have to go all in on one thing. Instead, do what you can, when you can. Layer in simple, supportive practices like enjoying a cup of coffee on your front porch, going for a short evening walk, or just sitting quietly in your yard and breathing in the fresh air.
I love this time of year, especially where I live, because soon we’ll start seeing baby deer and other signs of new life. It’s a beautiful reminder that nature keeps showing up for us. Let’s make time to show up for it, too.
So whatever “smelling the roses” looks like for you—make it part of your routine. You’ll be surprised at how much calmer, clearer, and healthier you feel.
